Barrie, ON – Equestrians in Ontario and across North America are being offered a rare opportunity to train under two of the most respected names in classical horsemanship and Lusitano sport: Marco and Pam Esteves of Azores Stables Inc..
With deep Portuguese roots and a fast-growing international presence, the Esteves team continues to set a new standard in performance, breeding, and education, both in Canada and now with the official announcement of Azores Stables Europa, expanding their brand in Europe.

Horses, Pedigree, and Performance: Elevating the Lusitano Breed
Fresh from an impressive performance at the Working Equitation World Qualifier in Virginia, Pam Esteves and her six-year-old Lusitano stallion, Poison, brought home a fourth-place ribbon, a remarkable achievement after the young stallion’s first year of training in the sport.
As a declared international competitor in Working Equitation, Pam continues to solidify her reputation as one of the most respected riders and rider-educators in the Classical Dressage and Working Equitation world.
Her partnership with Poison, who was bred for brilliance and developed with exceptional care, is a shining example of the precision, athleticism, and elegance that Azores Stables is known for.
The Azores Stables breeding program, led by Marco Esteves, is introducing top-tier Lusitano stallions to the North American market. Their current lineup features horses hand-selected for superior temperament, correct conformation, and versatile rideability, traits that make them highly competitive across a range of disciplines, far beyond classical sport alone.
“We’re not just breeding beautiful horses, we’re building a generation of athletes who are balanced, have sound minds, are trainable, and versatile,” says Marco Esteves.
In addition to Poison, Azores Stables is home to an exciting young stallion, “Real”, who is performing outstanding foundations under saddle.
Pam also has a second Masters-level Lusitano, Napoleon, an eight-year-old gelding she developed from the ground up.
His progression is a testament to Pam’s systematic, classical approach to training and her ability to consistently produce horses capable of high-level performance.
“Once you know how to make one Masters-level horse,” Pam shares, “you can make more.”
These horses reflect the long-term commitment Pam and Marco bring to every stage of development, from breeding and early handling to advanced competition and rider education.
Azores Stables Europa: Expanding the Brand in Europe
With Pam and Marco attending Golegã, Portugal’s most prestigious horse fair, Azores Stables is strengthening its international influence. Their presence affirms their role among Europe’s elite Lusitano professionals.
This visit also marks the official launch of Azores Stables Europa, a major milestone for the brand. Currently home to two four-year-old stallions, the European arm will focus on continuing the Azores philosophy of blending tradition with modern performance goals, offering a transatlantic standard of excellence to discerning breeders, riders, and investors, not only across Europe but, worldwide.
Industry Leadership and Education
Pam Esteves is not only a fierce competitor, she is a respected leader and educator.
She serves as:
President of Working Equitation Central Ontario
The official Canadian Representative for the Lusitano Horse Association of America
Through her leadership roles, Pam actively supports the growth of the Lusitano breed and Working Equitation in North America. Her clinics are known for being deeply educational, precisely structured, and immediately applicable, whether you're riding or auditing.
“Every rider leaves with exercises to implement and goals to achieve, regardless of discipline,” Pam explains. “We’re here to help riders develop feel, timing, and strategy.”
Why Working Equitation and Classical Dressage Benefit Every Rider
Pam’s clinics are built around classical principles that refine and elevate performance across all disciplines.
Riders from hunter-jumper, western, dressage, eventing, and recreational backgrounds will benefit from:
Improved straightness, suppleness, and self-carriage
Increased confidence in obstacles and new environments
Heightened leadership and clarity between rider and horse
A stronger foundation of trust, respect, and athletic development
This isn’t just theory, or a lesson from a different coach, it is structured, professional, practical education for riders who want to get results without sacrificing their horse’s soundness or spirit.
Clinic Weekend Details
Upon her return from Europe, Pam Esteves will be leading a series of clinics across Ontario, including Central Ontario (Simcoe County and Muskoka), Mount Elgin for riders in Southwestern Ontario, and Shannonville to serve the Eastern Ontario equestrian community.
Each location offers limited rider spots and auditor access, providing a rare opportunity to learn directly from professionals competing and operating at the international level, no passport required.
Whether you're riding or observing, these clinics promise high-impact instruction and invaluable takeaways.
